Who should and shouldn’t visit Leh and Ladakh? Anybody who is fit enough to live in a high altitude atmosphere. Those who have Asthma, Heart decease, Hypertension, Kidney disease, Diabetes should avoid going to Leh and Ladakh.
What is the best time to visit Leh and Ladakh? June to September is the best time to visit Leh and Ladakh. Rain showers are very rare in Leh and Ladakh and that’s why it is advised to go Ladakh during monsoon.
When and Where do I need permits? Permits are compulsory for every traveler if they want to access some protected and popular places of Ladakh. Army check posts check your permit to allow you go further.
Who needs to get Inner Line Permit to access protected areas of Ladakh? According to new circular issued in June 2017, foreigners as well as Indian citizens need ILP to access protected areas of Leh and Ladakh. Citizens of Jammu & Kashmir and children below 12 don’t need ILPs.
How to apply for Inner Line Permits ILPs 2018?
You can apply for PAP or ILP online now through the official website www.lahdclehpermit.in. Just in case if you want to get permit offline then you can get it from TIC Office, Opposite J&K Bank, Main Market, Leh
What about the availability of Gas Stations in Ladakh? There are only two gas stations available in and around Leh. You need to keep spare fuel with you if you are considering covering more than 300 km.
Can any vehicle enter beyond Leh? Taxi’s from other states are not allowed to go beyond Leh. You have to book local taxi for sightseeing and access Ladakh. They strictly check for private vehicles as well. If you are coming in taxi from somewhere else, you can only go till Leh, to go beyond Leh you either have to book local taxi or has to hire a vehicle for self-drive.
How many days are good to visit Leh and Ladakh? 10-12 Days are enough for a complete trip which covers almost every popular places of Ladakh. But also keep 1 or 2 days in buffer for any emergency.
